Online Advertising
Online Advertising refers to all ‘paid’ methods of online advertising. There are two main forms of paid online advertising:
a) Advertising on Search Engines
b) Advertising on other websites (like Facebook, Ebay & other niche sites that your customers may visit)
Advertising on Search Engines:
Paid advertising on Search Engines is commonly referred to as Sponsored Links, or “Pay-Per-Click” (PPC). This involves paying a search engine like Google, Yahoo, or Bing to display a link to your website when your potential customers search for a product, or service that you offer. However, you only pay when somebody clicks on your website link, not every-time that it is displayed. This is why this model of advertising is referred to as Pay-Per-Click.
The Pay-per-click model of advertising is a very popular form for the following reasons:
Instant Exposure: Your ad can be on the first page of Google instantly! As soon as the campaign has been turned on your ads will begin to display. Likewise, as soon as you turn your campaign off you will stop paying for clicks.
Flexibility: You can specify how much you want to spend per day/week/month, and you can increase or decrease this spend at any time. You can also choose what hours of the day your ad will appear, which days of the week, and which specific geographical areas you would like to advertise to (i.e. only show my ad to people who live in the Sunshine Coast).
Relevance: Your ads appear in front of people that are looking for the exact product that you offer. Imagine buying a billboard that only appears to motorists who care about your product. It makes sense not to waste money buying permanent Real Estate, when you can make your ad appear only when it is relevant to the customer.
Transparency: You know exactly how many times you ad was shown, and how many times it was clicked.
You can also determine which specific keyword resulted in a purchase or a lead.
